Iran breaks Guinness World Records for giant hand-woven carpet Managing Director of Iran Carpet Company Mohammad Reza Abed said  that the Iranian carpet broke the Guinness World Records for the biggest hand-woven carpet in the world.

Abed told IRNA that the Guinness corporate has announced the news to Iran's Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade on Tuesday.
He added that the carpet is 133m in length and almost 48m in width and has been laid in Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Abu Dhabi, the UAE.
Some 1,500 to 2,000 people visit this Iranian carpet daily.
The carpet is decorated with traditional Persian designs and natural colors with more than 2.1 billion knots.
This hand-woven carpet has been woven by 1,200 Iranian weavers in the city of Neyshaboor in the northeastern province of Khorassan Razavi.
Weaving this carpet which is 5,634 square meters and weighing about 48 tons lasted 18 months for the weavers who worked two shifts a day.
Abed said 72 percent of the carpet is made of wool and the rest of cotton.
